This Dark Angel saved my skin.

LUSH Dark Angels Cleanser

What LUSH says about Dark Angels:

“Dark Angels is the nemesis of all blemishes, breakouts and blocked pores. Our soft black scrub was conceived when we combined the exfoliating power of Angels on Bare Skin and the sebum balancing abilities of Coal Face. The result? A velvety cleanser, sprinkled with black sugar and powdered charcoal to gently exfoliate and cleanse away excess oils. We add antimicrobial rhassoul mud and vitamin-rich cold pressed organic avocado oil to soften, moisturize and nourish skin, as well as sandalwood and rosewood oils to soothe.”

Before I got this, I was dealing with a lot of clogged pores and blackheads that I could never seem to get rid of, no matter how much I exfoliated or cleansed my skin. That all changed when this black beauty came into my life. Suddenly, my skin took on a glow that I hadn’t had before and my pores were significantly cleaner than ever before. This Dark Angel definitely became my skins guardian angel.  Continue reading

Isn’t this just peachy?

Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

There’s a funny story behind this lipstick. My boyfriend had won $250 to Walgreens at a Business Competition (I know, weird prize, right?) and since he didn’t know what to buy there, he brought along his best friend and me to split it with him. Bad idea. I ended up using $120 of it to buy makeup-just makeup. When they rang up the bill, my boyfriend had no clue how I could spend that much at the drugstore, let alone half of it be on lipsticks! Let’s just say I’m lucky he loves me that much and is still with me even though I’m completely addicted. At least I use everything I bought! This little gem is perhaps my favorite color out of all! Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in shade 2.0

What Sephora says: “A weightless and virtually invisible liquid foundation that creates a luminous, demi-matte finish. This formula helps skin achieve a natural, illuminated and bright finish— like the beautiful skin you were born with. Naked Skin is formulated with light-diffusing spheres, transforming you to look professionally retouched. Buildable coverage allows women to customize their look. Available in a meticulously calibrated range of shades, Urban Decay’s precise shade numbering system does poetic justice to both warm tones (ending in “.0”) and cool skin tones (ending in “.5”). The finish is matte, never flat, and luminous, but not shiny.”

hate shopping for foundations. Absolutely loathe it. I wasn’t even keen on trying this one out considering I usually break out from even the simplest ingredients, but the SA at Sephora convinced me just to go for it. So I brought home a sample and ended up buying it two days later. What convinced me to make such a rash decision? The fact that this foundation literally sank into my skin and made it look like I was almost wearing nothing. How’s that for naked skin? Continue reading

Livin’ the Champagne Life.

Youngblood Luminous Crème Blush:

What Youngblood says: “Give cheeks a burst of color and radiance with this cream-textured blush. The oil-free formula combines a shimmering glow with sheer, long-wearing color. Wear as a cheek color or highlighter, or layer with powder blushes for extra vibrancy”

Youngblood also describes this as a ‘bubbly taupe with a shimmery sheen’. I honestly try to avoid taupe whenever possible and I would not describe this as taupe in the least. It is definitely a champagne color that leans on the warmer side. If you’re looking for a very sexy glow without a ton of glitter or shimmer, this is perfect. Everyone who looks at you will wonder if you secretly just had a glass of Dom Pérignon. Continue reading

Saturday FOTD

This is one of my favorite looks to wear. A nicely drawn cat eye can really open your eyes! If you haven’t perfected it, don’t worry. I’ll be doing a tutorial soon enough. The easiest way to learn is by practice though, so get out your liners and have a go! We were heading off to a party, but it looks like we’ll just be staying in tonight, which is totally fine by me. It means I get to play more Skyrim and look awesome while doing it. I hope you guys are having an awesome night!  Continue reading

Face Mask Friday!

Ingredients you will need for the Pumpkin Face Mask

This is the first mask we did for our ladies Ultimate party last weekend and it happens to be one of my favorite exfoliating masks! Not to mention we looked like Oompa Loompas (without needing a tan or bad color foundation!) so it was a win win! I wish the guys could’ve seen us, it would have been funny to freak them out and start singing the song. “Oompa Loompa”….. Continue reading

The “It goes with everything,” bronzer.

Poudre Bonne Mine Healthy Glow Powder 2 Douce Croisière

What Sephora says: Totally weightless and invisible on the skin, this creamy formula provides ultimate softness and a light-as-air natural finish. With a consistency that’s easy to blend, this bronzer can be applied alone with the Givenchy Kabuki brush or over Mister Radiant. Use it year-round to smooth pores, even the skin’s texture, and provide a healthy glow.

When I saw this bronzer featured on one of my favorite bloggers sites, I knew I had to get it. Back then, I only had one other bronzer (Benefit Hoola) and I needed something a bit warmer in tone for my mom’s wedding. This specific bronzer is what made me fall head over heels for bronzers in general. Sephora got these in about three days before my mom’s wedding but they didn’t have any testers for me to swatch. Alright, I thought that was cutting it close, but oh well. So I waited until the day before the wedding and I went back to check, and they still didn’t have the testers! I was in a panic mode! In my mind, I had two choices. I either buy the one I saw swatches of online, and just bite the bullet, or not get it at all. Thankfully, a helpful SA knew I was desperate and made testers for me. I was so thankful! I’m glad she did too, because I walked home with the one that I didn’t expect to get, but I’m glad I did! Continue reading

Is that seaweed in my cleanser?

LUSH Aqua Marina Cleanser

What LUSH says: “Do you remember putting calamine lotion on bug bites as a child? Aqua Marina was made with the same principle in mind; using the soothing pink extract to reduce redness and inflammation in sensitive skin. Those who have a tendency to react to citrus or strong herbal oils will find salvation in Aqua Marina’s gentle aloe vera and moisturizing nori seaweed. Especially cooling on sun burnt faces, Aqua Marina is perfect for normal to dry skin types. Your cleanser will remain fresh for up to three months. Always check the expiration date on your product.”

Most people who haven’t had the LUSH experience might think that seeing real seaweed in their cleanser is a little strange. I know that when I went to my Ultimate girls party to make masks, I got many weird looks when I brought this out! But once the girls had tried it, they actually liked it! It goes to show you, that even though something may look a little funny (and smell kind of funky) doesn’t always mean it’s bad. Unless of course you’re putting something rotten on your face, then I wouldn’t try it. I promise this isn’t!  Continue reading

Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Base Mineral Powder in Warm Silk

What Jane Iredale says: “The look is sheer and semi-matte. The feel is weightless. Trust our pressed mineral foundation to look like your skin, only better.”

I’ve been using Jane Iredale products for over four years now, and I can’t imagine being without them. All of the products helped calm and cover my extremely irritated, acneic skin and did so without clogging my pores back in high school, and still do now. My favorite of her entire line so far though has been the Pure Pressed Base. Even though I have now found other fantastic foundations too, I still come back to this one when my skin just won’t cooperate or I need something I can just throw on and go. Continue reading
