Candy coated

my Easter candy kick has inspired even my recent makeup selections

Happy almost Easter everyone! I made a couple purchases at Sephora yesterday that I am so excited to show off. Stila released a new liner for spring that is exactly the color I have been searching for the past year. I swear, it’s “the one”. Bonus, it’s waterproof, so I’m anxious to try it out poolside. So what is this magical new color? It’s the smudge stick waterproof eyeliner in Turquoise. Unlike many turquoise liners that tend to be really bright and almost more cerulean, this one is a slightly pale pastel perfect for Easter. Now, you know I’m ecstatic for this color, so what could possibly blow my mind even more in one swatch fest? Thank you Easter-Bunny-Magic-Man-Of-My-Life!! Sephora has four shades of the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine available for a limited time in our blessed Boise store. I took one look at the color Corail in Touch and I swear I died and was resurrected right there at the front of the store. So here’s my spring look take two, a more vibrant, colorful look. Face Mask Friday! Clear skin for the win!

Image

Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask

What Origins says: “When environmental toxins, dirt and debris get under your skin, its waste-filtering system gets jammed, pores get clogged, skin looks cloudy. Nature’s complexion clean-up crew gets to the bottom of skins overcast condition and clears the way for it to act its best. Activated Charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers, White China Clay absorbs environmental toxins, Lecithin dissolves impurities. Without all that “stuff” down there, skin “breathes a sigh of relief.”

This is the other mask I decided to buy on my trip to Origins when I bought the Drink Up Intensive and I have to say, I love both of these! If you’re looking for a mask to cut through oil, heal acne and de-gunk your pores, this can do the job.  Continue reading

So stoked to go dancing!

I’m heading out swing dancing for a Lindy Hop flash mob at our local club! I thought I’d keep it minimal on the eyes but go dramatic on the lips, kind of like they did back in the 20’s. Instead of wearing a traditional red lip, I brought out my sultriest burgundy and I swear, I feel like a million dollars when I wear this. I fall in love with it every single time! I hope you’re having a great night!  Continue reading

How to fix broken makeup.

Are you as clumsy as I am? I hope not. I tend to be really harsh with my makeup, which doesn’t always turn out so well. Back before I knew how to fix broken makeup, I would always try to use my broken, powdery mess until I got too frustrated and threw it away. Well, now you don’t have to. Sadly, the inspiration for this post came from me breaking my Petals to the Metal Eyeshadow the same day I bought it. I told you I was bad. I’ve been fixing my broken makeup for the past few months, and I’m happy to report that it’s easier than it might sound!  All you need is one ingredient, a light hand and some patience and your favorite eye shadow or blush will be looking almost as good as new! Can you tell I had been drinking wine? I have a little stain left in the middle of my lips!

Hey everyone! I went out to a late St. Patrick’s Day party on Saturday night with a ton of my friends, and since we were celebrating St. Patty’s day, I had to incorporate some green into my look too! So here’s what I came up with. Continue reading

Face Mask Friday! Green Clay and Grapefruit Brightening Mask.

Image

I have a fresh grapefuit with breakfast every morning. It’s one of my favorite fruits, and really helps to wake me up! I began to think since it has so many benefits for my body, it’s got to have benefits for my skin. So I did some research, and now I love this fruit even more. It’s great for gentle exfoliation because of its natural Alpha Hydroxy Acids, and contains Vitamin C, which is necessary for building collagen and it aids in the removal of dark spots. I decided to add French Green Clay for  added detoxifying benefits, because it deeply cleans pores without stripping moisture, and is abundant in minerals to repair skin. I added honey to help bind the mask together and add some antibacterial properties as well as to keep the mask not too drying. I’m happy to report that this is one of my favorite masks ever!

Too Faced Exotic Color Intense Eye Shadow Petals to the Metal

What Sephora says: “This alluring spectrum of extravagant shades includes an ensemble of rock-crystal shimmers, velvety hues, and irreverent iridescence. The color-saturated formula of these shadows guarantees maximum color payoff and blend effortlessly when applied alone or when layered.”

When I was home for spring break, we had planned a night to go out on the town to celebrate my 21st. So naturally, Chantell, a few friends and I all had a makeup party to get ourselves ready. Chantell did my friend Jamie’s makeup, and when she was finished, she came to show me what she had done. If you want to see what it looked like, here is the look. I was so enamored with this color that she had on her lids, I had never seen anything like it. I immediately swatched it and fell in love with it straight away. It was one of the most gorgeous color(s) I had ever seen. I had to make it mine.  Continue reading

Why yes, my cleanser is green.

LUSH Herbalism Facial Cleanser

What LUSH says: “A powerful decongestant for your pores, Herbalism is best suited to those who have tried everything under the sun to clear up their oily and blemish prone skin. Fear not! Herbalism’s heroic blend of rosemary, nettle and chamomile are here to tame problematic skin. Ground rice bran acts as an effective exfoliant, while kaolin (also known as China clay) reaches deep down into pores to clean out dirt and debris. Use this cleanser in combination with Grease Lightning for balanced, even skin.”

I felt like I needed to switch up my beauty routine recently, and what better time to do that than Spring! I asked my boyfriend to pick me up another container of Dark Angels and instead of getting Aqua Marina again, I asked for Herbalism. I tried Herbalism last summer, and absolutely adored it, so I couldn’t wait to have it again. Nothing has changed, I still love it, and it is still one of my absolute favorite cleansers that LUSH makes.  Continue reading

Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal in Barely Branded

What Maybelline says: “Cream gel eye shadow for long-lasting shimmery metallic shades Smooth, Bold Metallic Shades, 24HR wear cream gel formula for smooth application.”

I hate to say this, but I used to be somewhat of a Sephora snob. I still kind of am, but since I moved away for college, I’ve had to be a lot tighter with my money. It was a kick in the face to realize how much money I’ve spent over the years on high end makeup, and I decided I needed to see what I was missing back at the drugstore. Turns out, I was missing out on a lot. Especially when it came to eye shadows. I won’t be snubbing them again, because this eye shadow definitely holds its own against it’s higher end sisters.  Continue reading
