Dusty Rain

Image

I’ve got the blues! Well, blues on my eyes that is! It’s been rainy, cloudy, hail-y and just down right icky up here in in the North. So instead of letting it get me down, I thought I’d play its game. Here’s what I used.  Continue reading

Face Mask Friday! LUSH Brazened Honey

Image

What LUSH says, “Brazened Honey was inspired by traditional Indian Ayurvedic principles, which put emphasis on balance as the foundation to health. Fresh free-range eggs and honey soften, lime oil brightens, spices warm the skin and ground almonds exfoliate. Kaolin clay reaches deep down into pores to pull out dirt and impurities, leaving your skin noticeably brighter and fresher. Our deepest cleansing mask, Brazened Honey is the perfect way to revive sluggish or congested skin.”

I’m in a love/hate relationship with Brazened Honey, and while it may not be a LUSH favorite of mine, it certainly is still a mask to check out if your face is oily and congested. Here’s why.  Continue reading

Even the devil has to look pretty.

Image

I’m heading out to see a showing of the Vagina Monologues with a group of my close girlfriends and guy friends! I am absolutely so stoked, it will be the first time I’ve seen it! Here’s the look I’m wearing for it. Products will be up later! If you’re a bit worried about the title of my post, two of the eye shadows I’m wearing are called Demon and Sinner! But really, these are purely made of sin.   Continue reading

Urban Decay Smoked Eye Shadow Palette

What Sephora says: “An Urban Decay take on the always-popular smoky eye, this 10-shadow palette includes traditional black and gray, as well as modern-colored hues for smoky eyes. Each velvety shade features Urban Decay’s new shadow formula and proprietary Pigment Infusion System™, allowing infinite depth to your eye looks, whether you commit to all-out nighttime smoky or just apply a hint of sultry smudgy color for daytime.”

Smokes and I are not friends, we’re more like casual acquaintances. Tell me to do a black smokey eye and I will run in the other direction! Let’s just say it’s not my thing, but for the girls who love rocking those bedroom eyes, you need this in your life. These shades will knock your socks off, and there’s a good possibility they’ll also knock the rest of your clothes off as well.  Continue reading

Urban Decay Ammo Palette

What Sephora says: “An eye shadow set featuring ten of Urban Decay’s bestselling shades—from neutral to vivid to all-out smoky.”

You all know me and color–half of the time I won’t even go near it. However, when my best friend Emily (fashionista over at Sekond-Skin!) said that she wanted to explore the world of color with her makeup, I was determined to help her find the best palette. The search led to Urban Decay and possibly one of the most versatile and easily wearable, playful color palettes I’ve ever come across. Em was hooked and surprisingly, so was I.  Continue reading

Lock in the coverage.

Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation in 45

What Sephora says: “Kat created this foundation to provide exceptional coverage, without compromising a smooth, striking finish. Formulated with 21 percent pigment, this powerful formula was developed to match a broad range of skintones with bold coverage—the proprietary pigments can even effectively cover tattoos. The combination of raw materials and the best siliconic elastomers and siliconic esters provide 24-hour wear with transfer resistance. Natural polymers absorb oil for a matte, soft finish and the added emollients provide a velvety texture for perfectly smooth, hydrated skin.”

When my skin is severely misbehaving (which let’s be honest, sometimes it just likes to be a total jerk) I reach for this. I’ve been using this for the past couple of months and it has more than once allowed me to walk out of the house not completely self conscious. Especially around that time of the month when all I want to do is cover my face with a paper bag and crawl under my bed covers with a bottle of Tylenol and the BBC Sherlock series. If your face is misbehaving, pick this up.  Continue reading

Silk Naturals Demon Eye Shadow

What Silk Naturals says about Demon: “Demon is a deep dark chocolate color with lots and lots of red glimmer.  It’s really fun as a liner, and if you’re daring it’s an amazing lid color for late night schenanigans.  Demon was inspired by the shower scene in the original Psycho when they used chocolate syrup as the blood because it looked the most realistic in black and white.  It’s made as a nod towards Halloween- a makeup gal’s favorite night!”

Does anyone else listen to country? If you do, I sincerely hope you get my title reference! I absolutely adore the band Love and Theft and I could not have thought of a better title for this eye shadow. The moment I saw Demon on Silk Naturals, I knew I had to have it! Those red and chocolate tones I knew were going to look wicked with my red hair and I was so right. I can’t wait to show you guys!  Continue reading

Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Foundation in 02

What Armani says: “A formula that is easy to apply with unified distribution, and covers imperfections.  An ultra-fine oil-pigment suspension that perfects the complexion, instantly igniting skin’s natural luminosity. A water and powder-free base.”

Last May, I finally was able to afford this foundation and I bought it for a bride’s wedding as well as for myself. I’d been wanting to try it since it launched and I was so stoked to finally own it! I thought it was going to solve all of my foundation woes with a single pump. Well, to tell you the truth it didn’t live up to the claims I so desperately wanted in a foundation. While it’s not the worst foundation I’ve tried, it’s certainly not the best. I’ll explain why. Continue reading

What Freeman says: “Serum infused paper facial mask with Rose Extract illuminates dull skin. White Tea and Licorice help reduce age spots for more even toned skin. Reveal a smoother surface with Lactic and Glycolic Acids. Perfect for dull skin types.”

My gosh, it feels like forever since I’ve done a Face Mask Friday post! For some reason my Fridays lately have been ridiculously hectic, so I am sorry about that. Hopefully they’ll clear up soon. Now, onto the mask! I am still absolutely in love with these paper masks, and my skin just soaks them up too (literally!) and if you haven’t jumped on this bandwagon yet, get on it!
