Alba Very Emollient Facial Sunscreen SPF 30

What Alba says: “This very emollient and botanically moisturizing sunscreen provide broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection as defined by the FDA. Made with preferred sunscreen ingredients, this light facial lotion is hypo-allergenic, very water resistant (80 minutes), paraben free and won’t clog pores. Going through esthetics school has made me realize even more how important sun protection truly is and what a difference it makes when you use it. I used to be quite bad about applying it during the day and was always convinced it was going to clog my pores and cause even more breakouts on my face. My fears were for nothing though, there are truly some great sunscreens on the market nowadays that cater towards acneic skin like mine and this is one of them. Continue reading

Face Mask Friday-LUSH Mask of Magnaminty!

Image

What LUSH says: “Mask of Magnaminty isn’t technically a daily ‘facial wash’; it’s actually a deep cleansing face and back mask. China clay and fresh peppermint reach deep down to pull the debris from your pores, giving you that delightful tingly-clean sensation. We add loads of aduki beans to exfoliate flaky or dry skin, vanilla absolute to calm redness and honey to soothe. Our inventors created Mask of Magnaminty to be the ‘ultimate face mask’, intense but not harsh or abrasive on the skin. We recommend using Mask of Magnaminty weekly to keep the skin in good condition.”

I love, love, love that I am finally back on almost all LUSH products again. I’ve been searching around for new brands this past year but somehow going back to LUSH is like going back home. I got all of my old favorites like Dark Angels and Herbalism and Mask of Magnaminty. My skin absolutely loves this mask and yours will too. I mean it’s LUSH, what’s not to love? Continue reading

Amazing Grace

Image

What LUSH says: “We believe everyone should have a Full of Grace as part of their skin care routine. Our solid moisturizing serum is packed full of hydrating tropical butters, calming chamomile and antioxidant mushroom extract to keep your skin in fantastic condition, all year round. Easily absorbed by the skin, Full of Grace creates a soothing treatment for the face. This preservative-free bar is a staple product; it’s the kind of treatment you should give your skin to maintain its elasticity, moisture and glow.”

A couple weeks back when I was in Chicago, my skin was absolutely ravaged from the harsh winds. I hadn’t experienced dry skin like that in a year! I had to stop using my Retin-A Micro and bring out all of my big moisturizing guns to help keep my skin in tip-top shape, and it still was barely enough. So I made at trip to LUSH to grab a bath bomb for Emily because she wasn’t feeling so good and I ended up coming back with face masks and this little beauty I’m about to show you. I swear, I can’t just walk into LUSH and not come out with something! This absolutely saved my skin in Chicago and turned my face from looking like a Draugr Deathlord who got hit by the Frost Breath shout and into moisturized skin worthy of the High Queen. Excuse the Skyrim references if you have no idea what I’m talking about. But if you do, I hope I my references painted a good picture at how bad my skin looked.  Continue reading

Face Mask Friday-Drink it up!

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

What Origins says: “Skin depends on water for its youthful functioning. But all day long, skin loses vital moisture. And the busier you are, the more it loses. This intense moisture replacement mask with Avocado and Apricot Kernel Oil deeply and instantly quenches compromised moisture reserves and builds a reservoir for tomorrow. Japanese Seaweed repairs skin’s barrier to prevent future dehydration and signs of premature aging.”

My skin was horribly dry and irritated this winter, and I really needed something that was going to soothe my sensitive skin and not irritate it. The problem was, I’d never had a moisturizing mask before, so I didn’t know what to look for. I wanted something natural, and I loved Origins already, so I headed down to the counter to see what they had. I ended up coming home with two different masks, the charcoal and this one! I love them both so much, but this is my favorite of the two.  Continue reading
